Pain And Utter Despair Poem by Michelle Sowinski

Pain And Utter Despair

I stare hard into his eyes
Those eyes so hard and cold
A part of me dies
As I watch it all unfold
He does not care how much he hurts me
Nor the tears that fall
So steadily
I think I am about to fall
Into a pit of utter despair
His word and actions have scarred
My heart cannot bear
To see my slowly dying stare
His words sting like sleet
I know I will never tell
How I was so weak
When I endured pure hell
He had control over me
Like nobody else had
He could make me cower to my knees
Even when I did nothing bad
The pain is overwhelming
Like an uncontrollable tide
That just keeps swallowing
Even the things that try to hide
I do not know how much longer
I can endure this pain
I do not grow stronger
The pain I cannot tame
