Painting Hearts Poem by Oliver Coleman

Painting Hearts

Rating: 5.0

There is no sound from the phone
No distractions, when I'm all alone
No figures of war or of peace
All the noise just seems to cease
I can see everything so clear
But also hazy, like a whisper in my ear
Tell me you love me and that you'll never let go
Of course that could be fiction I already know
Still, it's the thought of being happy, if just for the moment
That keeps me going and steers me true
Which can lead me to meeting someone just like you
My only concern is what might follow
When I'm feeling bad and downright hollow
That you'll write me off
And tell me life's tough
Instead of grabbing my hand
And helping me up
