Panikhida* (Parastas**)~ Panikhida* (Parastos**) Poem by Jankovic Zoran

Panikhida* (Parastas**)~ Panikhida* (Parastos**)

Panikhida* (Parastas**)

Still flowing in my veins
your character and your dirt.
I am saved by good doctors
who with their love put
stent on my blood vessels.

Then I sigh deeply and breathe,
but choking me your poison in my soul.
The slowly poisoned body leaves me
and I do not complain
about the earthly creature.

Sorry for the soul who slowly dies.
Christians say that when the body is gone
the soul leaves him after 40 days.

You're wrong if you think I'm dying,
Here's the last time I'm joking with you.
That's why I'm singing Panikhida* tonight;
service for those Fallen Asleep,
When a day comes I'll give you Parastas**.
I've forgotten your body.
Now is the time to bury your soul.

* Panikhida is in Orthodox Christianity
night prayer for the dead.

** Parastas is the significance of the dead
to be given 40 days after death. It's considered
a soul of dead man leaves for the body that day.

Panikhida* (Parastos**)

I dalje mi teku u venama
tvoj lik i tvoja prljavština.
Spašavaju me dobri doktori
koji svojom ljubavlju stave
poneki stent na moje krvne sudove.

Tada duboko uzdahnem i prodišem,
ali guši me i dalje otrov u duši.
Napušta me polako otrovano tijelo

Tijelo sam ti zaboravio.
Danas ti sahranjujem dušu.

*Panahida je u pravoslavnom hrišćanstvu
noćna molitva za mrtve.

**Parastos je pomen mrtvima koji se daje
40 dana posle smrti. Smatra se da duša
umrlog tog dana odlazi za tijelom.
