Papa Told Me So Poem by Mousheera Shafik

'Not all that shines is gold.',
That's what I've been really told..
As he likened the lesson to a butterfly,
That is magnetized to a candle's flame,
It spins around it, and spins till it get burnt and die,
And simply he did not want me to do the same..
He told me to be careful of these stunning roads,
They may lead to a thousand thorns, and hurtful goads..
And told me where the shore is, and how to get there..
But to reach safely… he said that I should take a good care.

Thank you father, for me you've taught,
I shall always keep it in my thought…
For I really know that not a treasure in the whole world,
Would worth a word of what you truly told.
