Paper Planes

In these days of unwillingness
to let the facts get in the way of a good story,
when we love a winner
though he's the only one with CGI,

look at the Delhi Sultanate of the 14th century
when the tax on non-Muslims
had led to mass conversions,
and a sultan, short, and bellicose for booty.

He sacked the Deccan
for enough to keep him and his successors going
till Delhi itself was sacked,
and a new sultanate arose,

and was sacked,
being unwilling to let defense
get in the way
of pretense.
