Pathways Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Pathways

We walk down the path that life pushes us along
Rarely do we question if it's where we truly belong
We can choose to leave the pathway and make a new start
It may be hard along the way but better than a broken heart
So forget life's road map and follow your heart at all costs
You won't know what fate has for you if your too scared to get lost
So many things show the beauty that lives within your heart
These things come naturally for you which sets you apart
You show your love in the things you do; each and every day
Actions speak louder than any words that we can say
It's sharing an umbrella to keep someone dry from the rain
It's the gentle touch of your hand when you see that I'm in pain
It's telling me to buckle my seatbelt and listening to make sure it's on
It's missing someone you love; every second they're gone
It's the sweetness of your laughter and the smile you try to hide
It's in all the loving words you say and in every tear you cry
You'll always have a safe place
Inside my warm and loving embrace
You make everyday wonderful; you've a beautiful soul
Telling you these things is something that'll never get old
