Pause Poem by Je'free Y .

Pause

You dropp the pen you are writing with.
Freeze any form of activity by oneself,
Just the rest of the world moving with time.
Static as a rock, do not leave your seat yet.
Your restlessness from minutes ago is trying
To chase and capture your present stillness.
If you clog the time tunnel of motion,
Will your infancy bump into your puberty,
And will your adulthood never reach old age?
Maybe the ghosts of past will all fuse,
Pile up into one giant ghost of yourself now.

When you are at a halt, you sometimes
Feel them breathing behind your neck,
And you sense how they would want
To take your place or overtake you.
Then, you start wondering about your
Future version who is probably bored
Playing the catch up game, easily winning,
So much ahead, and unthreatened by you
Who have decided to seize all verbs
From functioning.

You are the effect of yesterday,
And the cause of tomorrow.
As you sit still, everything left behind
Finds you, intersects with the current
Like crossroads, interferes with each other
Like two frequencies trying to synchronize.
Imagine the roles you have portrayed
From old written chapters, and history
Of learning, every character is trying to be
In your here-and-now just because
You took a pause.
