Perdition Assured Poem by Kurt Philip Behm

Perdition Assured

You try to mask your given voice
in what's perverse and then profane

But truth speaks only for itself,
your costume tattered-seamstress blamed

This great parade, a grand charade,
your song a flattened chord

Its final line to seal your fate,
—perdition now assured

I love the line 'your costume tattered-seamstress blamed' This is a strong poem- perdition- damnation. I see this as a searing judgment of a person who hides behind their words- their true nature. 'Your song a flattened chord' to me means that the person who does the judging easily sees through the layers because really, there aren't any. Interesting use of musical imagery...conveys the perception well. Thanks Kurt. Well done.
