In a world of darkness and despair,
Where sin and shame were everywhere,
We were trapped in the chains of the law,
With no hope of escape, no one to call.
But then came a light, shining so bright,
The light which the prophets prophesied,
A Savior, a King, in radiant light,
He bore our curse, took our place.
So we could be freed, by His holy grace,
Christ became a curse upon a tree,
His blood was shed, to set us free,
Henceforth, let no one trouble us.
He broke the chains, of sin and death,
And gave us a way, to take a breath,
The accuser, accused in vain,
For in His sacrifice, redemption was found.
The perfect escape, on holy ground,
Why wouldn't I rejoice?
He opened the door, for us to see his glory,
The promise of the Spirit, for you and me.
He made us all his begotten son's and daughters,
His love and mercy, flowed like a river,
Washing away all our guilt and quiver,
He lifted us up, from the depths of despair.
And gave us a hope, beyond compare,
Now we walk in faith, with heads held high,
For our Savior has redeemed us from the lie of the Devil,
The curse of the law, no longer binds.
We were free, absolutely free indeed,
Our offerings and sacrifices is Christ,
For Christ has given us, a new design,
A chosen people.
A royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession,
He called us out of darkness into his wonderful light,
That darkness can't comprehend.
So let us sing, and raise our voice,
Salvation is for all,
In praise and worship, let us rejoice
For Christ, the perfect escape, has set us free, now and forever,
And we will forever, grateful, be.
