Perhaps I Am Growing Wistful With Age

Rating: 4.0

Perhaps I am growing wistful with age
But it seems to me
That at times in the past
There were men of courage
With integrity and wisdom
Who stepped forward
And stood in the breach
Who spoke great words
And moved people of nations
To do what they could
To stand against evil
The moral relativism of today
Was not in common currency
And most at the time
Held to a common set of values
Far from perfect, but sufficient
To motivate people to rally together
And try to do what was good
For the improvement of all
Sadly, now the vileness of this age
Is crippling advancement through greed
And politics has become a haven
For the most base of mankind
Who have nothing to offer
But compromise and corruption
In the form of flagrant lawlessness.
