Permanent Stain Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Permanent Stain

Rating: 5.0

A good man has his limits
He will keep trying
He'll bury his pain
He'll try for you
and will try again
through gales and cold rain
He'll hurt himsef trying, feeling the shame
Even when he realizes his care is in vain
But finally when his heart breaks
and blood runs cold in every vein
He'll stop trying, he'll give up the fight
His pain as a tattoo on his heart
A permanent stain
