Perserverance Will Prevail Poem by Katie Markgraf

Perserverance Will Prevail

Rating: 4.5

My lungs rise with the breath
that gives life. Shallow and short
as the pain starts to increase.

My eyes are wet like rain that
drips down the window. Vision
blurred; hard to control.

My mind wanders like a boat lost
as sea. Aimless in direction; longing
for a destination.

My body is cold as I sit here
alone. Waiting for the arms that
decide I'm worth keeping warm.

And through it all...

My heart beats like the ticking of
a clock. Constant and rythmatic. Never
ceasing to amaze.
