Pet And Poultry Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Pet And Poultry

Pet and poultry

Once the goat, all alone
Missed the herd, was behind.

Shepherd went with others,
Confused was loner…

The Sun lost; Moon arrived,
As did the pack of wolves!

They attacked with paws, teeth
Shovel-man came, shouting.

When fed, healed, felt happy,
Moved around like breeze.

Late at night, about dawn
Man took the animal.

Tied its legs, hind, front,
And laid it on the ground.

The savor with knife
Cut the neck, gushed blood.

"Saving was for my meat,
Thank you for killing…"
The goat said, in that dark.

Wish I could go, question:
The man that heard cry:
"Many of my birds died
In Abbotsford's flood! "

"Would he not do the same? "

The chickens, sheep, cattle
Are not kept as are pets!

Better thank mudslides
That shortened ugly life
Inside the pens, or barns.
