Petal Rain Poem by Jenny Kalahar

Petal Rain

Rating: 5.0

Rainspout
pouring petals
from tree to roof to patio
what was concrete
is now lush and pinkred
a river of botanical beauty
a slide of spring
a gush of gorgeous

Rainspout
pours out
petals from the sky
a river of delight
a flow of floral
that will dry and overnight
into nestles for robins
into comforters for chickadees
into pillows for sparrows
until shouting winds whirl
through my rainspout
clearing to concrete
erasing thoughtlessly
that petalsoft portrait
of blossoming spring
