Phatihalee Baba Too A Professor, How Could It Be? Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Phatihalee Baba Too A Professor, How Could It Be?

Phatihalee Baba too a professor, a ragged man
As a departmental fman, an academic staff member,
How could be,
People keep it thinking,
Guessing,
How could he a loose garment-wearing fellow
A professor,
Without the belt,
A jute thread to work as a belt instead,
His pants and shirt
Wrinkled and loose
And he going in his father's old boots
And with a cloth bundle
To be a substitute as for a suitcase or an attache
At whose recommendation
A professor, a simpleton as a professor,
A ragged man as a professor,
A country swain, a rustic fellow,
How could he a professor?
