Piano Scale
Like practicing a piano scale
a four-lined poem may improve technique,
and fills the gap when Muses fail,
and spirit turned to flesh is weak.
When ego and the id are strong
and superego is no censor
the scales should hide where they belong,
while you start writing your cadenza.
