Picking Battles Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Picking Battles

It is not advisable or wise.
For anyone to decide,
They should choose the picking...
From which battles to win.
To discover they have created,
A multiple of sins for themselves.
Hoping to rely on accusations made.

Anyone with this agenda,
Starting fires they can not end.
Will find it difficult to defend,
Their own decisions.
Based upon advice from others taken,
To claim mistakes made.
With it wished later to be forgiven.

Picking battles with an adversary,
Without a strategy or thought.
Seldom produces a victory.
Or can claim the cost of it,
Has not left them with lessons taught.
Wishing they were better prepared.
