as a beggar, Santōka described one of his favorite places like this: ''The food is very cheap here, the salvation of this old hobo. Raw fish is five sen a plate, tempura five sen, yudoōfu two sen. Even a drunkard like me can become a Buddha in this very body for thirty sen.''
