Pieces Poem by James D. Faulkner

Pieces

Broken,
Shattered,
These pieces have scattered
To places I cannot locate.

Lost,
And dimming,
As I'm busy pretending
To be a part of the crowd.

Alone,
And scared,
I was not prepared
To deal with this hardship myself.

Restless,
And aching,
My heart has been breaking
At the thought of my mistakes.

Cold,
And blind,
I needed a sign
That this was not the end.

Weak,
And dazed,
Please tell me I'm okay
But only say it if you mean it.

Confused,
And uncertain,
I'm closing the curtains
On an absent audience.

Because I don't understand,
Why this all began,
And I can't decide,
Whether or not I deserve to cry
For things I could not prevent.

But this has been building
Way before all these feelings
And I should retrace where I've been,
Because it would be unjust
To let myself fade, so I must
Take you back to where it commenced.
