Plea Of A Lover Poem by Kyle Shield Laster

Plea Of A Lover

A heart that rivals nunneries
And a laugh that brings me God;
I swear I'll never answer your
'I love you' with a nod.

And though we are divided,
Our house will never fall-
For when a storm comes rushing:
I have bricks, cement, and all.

If others may seduce me
With their sugary delights;
I know well that candy
Leads to awful, sleepless nights;

And I'll crack my skull with laughter;
Whenever, that I'll do.
If only I could have you back
To show that I love you.
