Pleasure Cliff Poem by J W Marsh

Pleasure Cliff

Rating: 5.0

Dreamed about a house just now
I know it wasn't real
On a cliff beside the ocean, waves and wind below

I sat and drank my coffee as a cure against the cold
A friend came by and joined me in the sorrow of my home
She's gone, he said. She left you. You never were enough.
A friend, in dreams, I learned in dreams, can speak a hurtful truth

You left me with this pleasure cliff
A house of light and fear
The tides and sand give hope that someday life could reappear

My friend dissolves, as I will,
in the sound of birds and wind
For now it's me, and happiness
I listen for your steps
