Pledging Time (Spring Not Autumn) Poem by james watkin

Pledging Time (Spring Not Autumn)

Our undying love, I said
Safer to declare
When having tested the air
For taunting, we nurse
Not one broke leaf, but cradle
Spring in our keeping.
As far sowing from reaping.
Promise from betrayal.
Beyond the uncomfortable
Witness of the dead
Our undying love, I said
Safer to proclaim.
