Poem To Myself Poem by Miranda Kay

Poem To Myself

Rating: 5.0

Who are you in the mirror?
The person people call my reflection,
So young and fragile looking
But wears on your face my complexion.

I see a younger me
Is what I come to realize,
So long it took me to understand
And for that I apologize.

I should have seen it sooner
From the smile you wear on your face,
An attempt to hide how you feel
While you live in a miserable place.

But I remember how you feel
When you remove your fake smile
And I know how you wander
If your life is really worthwhile.

I know the pain you suffer through
And the abuse you encounter each day
I know it’s impossible to believe
But you soon will get away.

Things will get better
And your scars will start to heal
You’ll realize you are beautiful
And loved is how you should feel.

I see the women you become
As my reflection reappears
I think you’ll really like her
But you’ll know in several years.
