Poetic Justice Poem by Stephen Omolori

Poetic Justice

Pour slimes on my canvas,
And watch it become a chef d'œvure and
Every art collectors' most wanted;

Plant my flowers in the desert,
And watch the most beautiful butterflies
Come perch on them;

Throw me into a fiery furnace,
And watch me shine brighter than
Midas' finest golds;

Throw me in the deepest sea,
And watch me go rule over the
Long lost Atlantis;

Bury me under the ground,
And watch my broken bones
Grow into a big forest;

Nuke my airborne aeroplane,
And watch me soar higher in the sky
With the swiftest eagle;

Break my fragile heart,
And watch it come together alive
Like a phoenix;

Write me off with your quills,
And watch my book withdrawn from you
By my Publisher;

Amputate my trembling legs,
And watch me walk majestically
Into the Pearly Gates;

Break my three-legged stool,
And watch me happily seated with the
King of Kings!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I got inspired to write this poem when I felt I was underrating my abilities and what I could actually do, comparing myself to others and being sad because I felt I was a 'nobody' compared to them. However, I realized I was unique in my own little ways. I knew I needed to be hopeful and not discouraged so as to conquer territories I couldn't step into before. I dedicate this to every hopeful people who are going through something that makes them doubtful of their ability. Keep fighting! M'asuvuri!
