Poetmother Intrigue

Sensing signs
of her own sadness
in her son,
Poetmother,
to save the boy
from the exigencies,
bad poetry
and rancour
that beset her own endings,
and might even
see him choose to become a banker,
taught intrigue amongst all things
as salve,
and hoped to be spared,
to see how he fared.
