Poetry Poem by Jim Boone

Poetry

to the poet
is life
as it was – seemed
could be – is
or should be

to the listener
bread
basic and nurturing
wine
soothing, intoxicating

to the musician
a reason to strum
beat and play
to the seductions
and glow of night
the arousals
and light of day.

Give us this day
our daily bread
that we may digest
the rhyme and reason
that we may ponder
and remember
what the Poet has said.
