Poetry To My Soul Poem by Leslie Alexis

I learned poetry so I could write for you.
I needed meter to show the security my heart knows
So I picked books and words became my friend.
I needed rhyme to show how perfectly we fit:
Like doves our love comes from above.
I needed rhythm and melody to show that in my heart
Every beat is because you’re in my thoughts –
And when our lips lock like timing to a clock
Wedding bells and violins in my ear ring,
And when we walk heavenly choirs sing
And bird and bees look on from the trees,
And with you there is always a cool breeze.
I learned poetry so I could write for you;
But above all, you are poetry to my soul.
