Police - An Old Lawman's Lament Poem by Paul Warren

Police - An Old Lawman's Lament

I don't want to know how she died
Or know the real reason he cried
I don't want to be abused any more
Or know in the end what was the score

I don't want to see the blood or sorrow
Or know that for them there will be no tomorrow
I don't want to stand when others have run away
Or when the trouble has ended that I need to stay

I don't want to spend the long nightly hour
Or be awake when the memories sour
I want to now wile away my own time
And not make any decision so others will be fine.
