Poor Sad Kawliga Poem by Marilyn Lott

Poor Sad Kawliga

You know I met Kawliga
Been about a year or so now
He didn’t say a thing to me
He didn’t even bow

Seemed pretty serious I thought
Didn’t nod or even blink
He didn’t smile much either
Not very happy I don’t think

I stood beside his sturdy self
And got my picture taken
He continued to look sad
As though he’d been forsaken

Of course we all have heard the tale
About how his heart was broken
I suppose that is the reason
He’s never smiled or spoken

I just stood around a while
Hoping to catch his eye
Then off I went off again
Saying a quick goodbye
