Poppy Sweet P Brown Poem by John Carter Brown

Poppy Sweet P Brown

I live on the lap of my daddy
for most of the length of the day,
I am a canine barnacle -
in a doggy kind of way;

My name is Poppy Sweet P. Brown
my daddy calls me ‘kid, '
but I tolerate this insolence
and never flip my lid;

for this would only culminate
In having then to move,
to lose my comfortable spot
where I was in the groove.

You see, I'm a lady of leisure
and have no need to stray
all wants are set before me
throughout the laze-long day.

I move, but very seldom,
with water-bowl close by,
likewise my food and toys and such,
I never need to try;

apart from toileting of course,
then to my pad I'll toddle,
My name is Poppy Sweet P. Brown -
It should be Molly Coddle.
