By colonial,
Postcolonial,
What is it colonial,
What postcolonial?
Can you refuse to accept it
That the lands were once
In the control of masters?
They came,
Fought many battles,
Tried to reform and settle,
Did they not build,
Can you refuse?
They too had experiences,
We too have,
Their dams, offices, bridges, routes,
Schools, colleges and universities,
Can we that
They did not?
The post-offices,
The rail lines,
Stations and halts and platforms,
Hospitals, quarters
Still say
What they did, what they did not.
Their eye hospitals, cataract operations slots,
T.B. hospitals,
Older miunicipalities,
D.C. or D.M. bungalows
Red coloured and asbestos or baked clay tile-roofed
Or plastered withy lime powder and sand
I can see.
