Praise For Me Poem by Francis Duggan

Praise For Me

Praise for me on my mind does take toll
Since it renders my ego out of control
And a swollen ego can be a soul destroying thing
So i would prefer that others my praises would not sing
What i dislike in others i dislike in me
Since we are what we dislike in others though many with this would not agree
Look at the famous singers how arrogant some of them are
As they sing their songs and strum their guitars
Praise it has gone to their heads it does seem
And too much of this not healthy for their self esteem
I do feel if i knew of their sort of fame
That like them i would feel exactly the same
And to feel superior is not a good thing
So i would prefer that others my praises would not sing.
