Praise May Be Your Due Poem by Francis Duggan

Praise May Be Your Due

Praise may be your due since of late you have done well
But the side affects of this is your ego does swell
And since it makes you feel superior to the humble kind
A swollen ego is not good for the mind
It is a truism that has often been said
That too much praise can go to one's head
The admiring kind big egos create
And some peoples egos are not hard to inflate
That too much praise is not good for you is not a lie
In the swollen ego humility does die
And for the state of the mind this is not a good thing
Though this is what happens when many your praises does sing
And though of late you have enjoyed a lot of success
Too much praise for the mind is not good nonetheless.
