Prasat Hin Phi Mai Poem by Richard Theze

Prasat Hin Phi Mai

What like were those
Who lived within these ancient walls
At the edge of the River Mon?

Who did, their deities apposed,
Create an abstract universe
With cornered oceans, allegorical.

Whose structures, most magnificent,
In sandstone, laterite, long fallen,
Lie in ruins, yet tower still.
