Praying For The Dead Poem by Randy McClave

It does absolutely no good to pray for the dead
Their deeds and acts and beliefs have already been read,
Their soul's have already been judged
And from God's judgment he cannot ever be budged.
A church visitor came over and sought out the Pastor
"How can I help you? " The Pastor then did ask her,
She requested, "Can I please request a prayer? "
"I want to ask for God's peace and love and care".
A family member had suddenly died last week
Salvation for him in the afterlife is what I do seek,
And I pray that God will guide them in the afterlife
And in prayer that he will find the lord Jesus Christ.
The Pastor then asked the visitor a question
This the Pastor said is a hurtful learning lesson,
It's about praying either before or praying after
And it truly pertains to the hereafter.
Suppose that you're taking a school exam
About it beforehand wouldn't you had studied and did cram,
So, should you pray for help before or after the test
Where and when will your faith and your belief rest.
When you pray after the exam that you have taken
The exam and/ or life is over do not be mistaken,
It's like you're asking God to change the grades
In the end your choice is either heaven or hades.
The Pastor then said, "God is true and always faithful"
He cannot deceive, the result is either joyous or regretful
He will hold our judgments which is no lie
And all our exams are over, when we die.
