Premonition Poem by Edwina Reizer

Premonition

I see your face in dreams at night
and watch it fade from view.
Why can't I keep it in my dreams
until my dreams are through?

Is this a premonition of
what I dare not say,
that just like in my dreams at night
your face will drift away?

I hear your voice in dreams at night
and find it leaves my ear.
Why can't I keep it in my dreams
forever and a year?

Is this a premonition
of what I fear you'll say,
that just like in my dreams at night
your voice must go away?
