Prince The Unpublished Version Poem by Terence George Craddock

Prince The Unpublished Version

Prince
wrote
songs
amassed...

kept
locked
hidden
in a safe

Prince Rogers Nelson
was the real deal an artist
style exceptional unique

pioneered Minneapolis sound
a subgenre of funk rock mixing
elements new wave synth-pop

Prince sang styles
had fun with musical styles
soul, rock, funk,

R&B, new wave, synth-pop
pop, jazz, and hip hop
a style diverse how to spot?

it rocks down in a flamboyant
androgynous persona screaming style
a style strutting it voice confident

Prince sang a wide vocal range
like jazz instantaneous owning moments
owning delighting in time moments

Prince sang a far-reaching falsetto
Prince sang high-pitched screams
Prince played skill multi-instrumentalist

on his produced recordings
often preferring to play
all or most of the instruments

Prince is gone
most unleased music
is now released

I think
I will walk
that road
for a while...

write poems
give them
to the wind
to the sea

strike a match
flame hard copies
ash in dust wind
grey rain word flakes...

finger poised
over delete
key pressed
going going gone

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Music almost instantaneously dissolves into the void. That is the paradox of its creation. And yet, there are OWNING MOMENTS, DELIGHTING IN TIME moments.
