Prison Poem by Denice Woods

Prison

Rating: 4.0

You are the shackles
Locked around my heart
Imprisoning me with your venomous lies
What you claim to be
Your love for me
Is actually
PRISON.
Four walls
No light
No comfort
Just you and your issues
Tears mean nothing
I want to mean something
To you
But I realize that will
never be
There will always be you
There might always be me
But there will never really be a we-
An us
Because there is always another
And how can it be-
Me
You
And she?
So here in my prison cell I sit
Awaiting release
Knowing I might as well be on death row...

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Silent intrusion of a third person into relationships becoming alarmingly common. Lots of tears being shed just for this. The pains and sorrows that come with it have been well expressed in this poem. And how can it be- Me You And she? It just cannot be!
