Pronoun As Figure Poem by Dennis Ryan

I didn't realize what was happening—
the appearance of 'you' in the poems.
Soon enough though, when I cast
the net wide, I realized saying 'you'
is saying 'me'. Up to that point,
I had thought 'you' a simple pronoun
of limited usage, and to find myself mistaken
took me by surprise, proved unnerving,
took me time to figure out this figure—
the idea of 'you' as a figure of possibility.
