Proud Angel Poem by Bill Dureen

Proud Angel

He thought he'd kiss you once
He thought he'd kiss you twice
But you are such an angel up there
In your paradise
He is but a demon
With a penchant for vice
Down here searching for his soul

If he met you in the street
Or somewhere in a crowd
He could never talk to you
For you are far too proud
To be talking to a demon
With such a penchant
Down here searching for his soul

You are always right
He is always wrong
So kind of such an angel
To let him tag along
And be a demon in your shadow
With all his penchants
Down here searching for his soul

His many imperfections
Keep him from his fate
And as all proud angels do
They make the demon wait
Suffering his penchants
Down here
Searching
For
His
Soul
