I am proud to be an Odia
For the sweet language I talk
The cultural heritage I carry
With simplicity we Odias live
I know my state is not so developed like other,
There are poverty, unemployment and Naxalism
Every year pass with draught, flood and cyclone
Still we do not leave our hope
What our forefathers teach us do
There is always sunshine after a dark night
I still love the fragrance of its soil
Feel calmness when I breathe her air
Tongue become watery when odia cuisines serve
Feel Comfortable when I read, write & talk in Odia
Because it is my mantra for my growth
I am proud for my history
For its culture, art and literature
Its heritage and classical language status
Because of its originality and not borrowed from other
I am an proud Odia
Who wants to rebirth again & again
In this great soil to learn and relearn
Because it is not sufficient to know
The vastness of literature, history & culture
Of Odisha and Odia in this single birth

I would like to translate this poem
Odisha has a very rich cultural heritage. The People of Odisha had excelled in the field of art, dance, music, architecture and literature. There are many temples like Konark temple, Lingaraj temple in Odisha which are marvels in temple architecture. I think, more and more translation of Odia writings into English and other world languages can bring due recognition to Odia language. I am a proud Odia.
