PSALM 138 Poem by Lloyd Haft

PSALM 138

When I praise you
my heart is whole,
even where the thousand images
keep staring.
I greet in the direction
of your hiddenness,
say your name is light and truth.
Above all things, beyond
remains your name.
The day I cried for you, I knew
my voice was strong;
there I had your answer.
If they knew what I seek
even kings would praise you,
sing your ways,
say this way is a way of light,
of clearing:
you see me warm and living
through the narrow places:
see me into spaces
of the one Who sees.
The leer of the heckler
can't touch me;
what touches me
I call your hand.
