Psychiartrists Drugging Juveniles? Poem by Luke Easter

3,800 psychiatrists around Florida billed Medicaid,
It was not the only way they were handsomely paid,
Hired to evaluate kids in state custody (AKA) thugs,
Instead of intense counseling they prescribed drugs.

Led from the courtrooms and transported off to jail,
Once again the system is doing its job, that is to fail,
While as sure as we do not combine adults and teens,
Neither are we supposed to lockup for illegal means.

An antipsychotic dose producing a tranquilizing effect,
First option in treating these kids through gross neglect,
Seroguel Manufacture: Astra Zeneca needed guinea pigs,
Doctors paid by Florida got a second check, yes they did.

Where 13-17 year olds were erroneously convicted & sent,
State & federal laws were violated in order to circumvent,
Who cared if treatment wasn’t authorized or kids got sick,
Would drugs work or not as from the litter was their pick?

A jury found a judge guilty in a, “kids for cash” scheme,
And Judge Mark Ciavarella wasn’t the only one it seems,
Better say former because he & Judge Michael Conahan,
Said to have received 2.6 million in a Pennsylvania scam.

Forget about injecting animals along with mice & lab rats,
The true test of effectiveness is with humans, that’s a fact,
With non-medicinal courtroom activity it’s hard to believe,
These state appointed doctors were the only ones to receive.

Just imagine what a wonderful world we could live in today,
It’s impossible, even upper echelon wants an increase in pay,
Doctors prescribed medications before approval by the FDA,
Florida does not have disclosure so they just might get away.

Well, certainly these are not isolated incidents by any means,
We’ve been overrun with corruption before money was green,
While it takes two to Tango crimes are never successful alone,
America will never be too far removed from Alphonse Capone.

And yet strangely the Department of Juvenile Justice, the DJJ,
Doesn’t require drug companies or doctors to disclose the pay,
Congress enacted a law to make known the $$ but not till 2013,
Between now and then that’s plenty of Benjamin Franklin green.
