Psalms Of David Poem by Luke Easter

Psalms Of David

Rating: 4.0

The greatest poet the world has ever known,
Will readily admit it’s nothing done on his own,
Not only a master of the spoken and written word,
Soul and spirits surrendered when his songs were heard.

An unlikely hero was this young fair-haired shepherd boy,
With a deadly weapon the giant mistakenly took as a toy,
Goliath’s head then severed by his uncircumcised sword,
Nothing is ever impossible walking a path led by the Lord.

How did our Lord find the favor of David in His sight?
When so many times he was forced to retreat in flight?
Many seeking his life while he did no evil but just and right,
A future King of mighty Israel flees like a thief in the night.

Constantly pouring out his heart, stringed lyre with song,
Why was he relentlessly pursued having done no wrong?
Through all the Lord showed David mercy keeping him safe,
God’s bumpy roads are covered with compassion and grace.

Everyone whom is chosen a leader there’s a test of the heart,
The competition is not won at the end but from the very start,
God already knows who will win before the race is through,
Storms, trials and tribulation are so that you will know it too.

David writes with praise, honor and glory to the Father,
Understanding full well that our Lord didn’t have to bother,
It’s with reverence and respect he makes the Psalms to sing,
Knowing the winding road traveled made him a worthy King.

Atop the roof spying a beautiful maiden bathing not far away,
And from thoughts on her nakedness it caused his heart to stray,
Loving Bathsheba he intentionally caused the death of another,
There will only be One who is perfect my sister and brother.

As we all live and breathe mistakes by mankind will be made,
Not with songs or harp, when seeking forgiveness knell and pray,
Everyday we’re a day closer to a rapture that is not far away,
If you haven’t said something by then, there will be nothing left to say.

David spoke saying, “The Lord said to my Lord sit at My right, ”
In whom God is well pleased He gives all power and might,
With Jesus nothing escapes or will ever be hidden from His sight,
David’s descendant will soon arrive as the final thief in the night.
