Purple Toes Poem by Steve Caine

Purple Toes

Purple Toes.

You were delivered, from the side view mirror
So I span the car around,
Drove up the street to the down town beats,
Ya' nowhere to be found.

Turned the corner then I saw ya',
In those ripped tight blue jeans,
Flowers in the hair, Cherry Red Boots, attitude in between.
Caught your eye, then ice cream and fries and the rest is history.

Your boots came off, your feet went up, as they kissed the screen,
Toes painted purple they made small circles on the glass where they had been.
Counted to ten and they faded again, we hit 70 as the sun went down,

Mustang ready, now going steady, We got everything we need,
Singing and driving, Drinks in the holsters, n‘ ketchup all over me,
Finished last bites, n' driving through the night, we hit the beach at three.

Your Jeans came off, your feet went up as you went into the sea,
Toes painted purple they made small circles on the sand where they had been.
Counted to ten and they faded again, as the waves came over me.

We got breakfast, past the side view mirror,
From the drive in back in town,
Drove up the street to the down town beats
To the spot where we were found…

Life was just a blast…. Hey' if you asked, I'm loving it when you're around..
