Puzzle Pieces Poem by angel lockheart

Puzzle Pieces

The birds sing the lyrics,
The leaves whisper the melody,
And the wind carries the rhythm,
As our feet keep to its beat.

The light shines though the canopy,
Spotlighting the treasures of the forest,
As if it is a museum of nature
And the world is our guide.

A butterfly circles toward us,
Lights upon my shirt,
And as its wings slowly flutter,
I try to hold still,
But can’t help and laugh,
As her feathery wings slowly tickle my neck.

Just as my first bubble of laughter escapes,
She flies away,
Only to land on you instead,
But as your self control is such greater than mine,
You’re able to freeze,
So she decides to stay.

Seconds turn to minutes,
So we decide to walk once more,
But still,
She stays.

Our arms twine around each other,
I snuggle up to your side,
And our bodies match like puzzle pieces,
Made to be reunited.

As we walk this well worn path,
Our words whispered,
Though only the trees can hear,
And before we know it
The sky’s canvas is splashed with colors,
Each one reminding me of you,
Until the only color left,
Is the magical blue of your eyes,
And she glides away,
Up into the trees,
And I can’t help but think,
She isn't saying goodbye.
