Quest Poem by Sarrah Ibrahim

Quest

Can't find that sticker,
Smiley face.
To cover up the evidence
for a shattered soul.
Ever seen a snake shed its skin
then tries to crawl back?
Unnatural.
We gotta see beyond the skin,
just glad most don't.
Plastering this grin,
Wearing shades,
changes nothing..
Heals no wound,
Defies no fact,
Not a thing.
Still dying inside,
Cry all night,
Longing for my knight.
With every blink,
I pray to see you,
Heartbeat,
Calls out for you,
Cell of my whole being,
aches to touch you.
But hey, gotta focus on the
now and here..
The sane side of my brain yelled.
For that i shall smile back,
Laugh with,
Be a listening ear,
Hug away others tear,
Shed off their fear,
There, there.
Its nothing but a school play for me.
They'll never guess,
They-you, will never know that,
Need not.
This brave face,
Costume.
Laugh,
Sound effect.
Smile,
Make up.
Doesn't reach no heart.
Meh. Minor details.
You're the missing piece of a puzzle,
A shattered soul,
A piece perhaps better forgotten,
left off..
Yet, one that is cherished,
for it represents a precious time,
Time when worries and pain are nothing,
but a distant memory.
It keeps me going on.
I will find you.
