Raindrops Poem by Pete Rivera

Raindrops

Rating: 5.0

Looking out the window
And counting every raindrop
That falls to the green grass
And saying every raindrop
Is like a simple blessing
But I don't want to seem crass

Skies open your dark clouds
And rain on my cheerful parade
Because I will count the drops of dew
That form in the aftermath
One by one I will count non-stop
Till I find the secret to you

Drop the magnet because metal won't attract
To count the pulses of electromagnetic beams
And smile as lightning strikes the phone pole
A cruel, non-happy smile I smile
From the black depths of the red heart
And the empty fabric of my inner soul

So I count the seconds
As to when the sun will disappear
And the moon will fill the night sky
Watching as the black cloud enshrouds
Filling the air with glimpses of light
Till my emotion stand tall and die

Now I look past the glass
To a world of happiness
And as much as I want to go there
Sadly, I cannot reach the knob
And no one tries to help me
No one tries to show they care
