Rakshi Poem by Namita Rani Panda

Rakshi

Rating: 5.0

A simple silken thread of any hue,
Or a talisman or amulet, made of any matter
Tied around the wrist of a brother
With much love by a sister,
But stronger than steel
And more malleable than gold,
A mark of deep respect,
An incessant overflow of warmth from a loving heart,
A sincere prayer to protect her brother
From misfortune, tribulations, disasters,
Wishing him a long and secured life
Free from all kinds of strife.
A promise from a brother to his sister
For lifelong obligation for security and care,
A sweet feeling of mutual dependence,
Pristine love, away from any kind of pretence.

A unique festival is Raksha Bandhan
Beyond caste creed and religion
That adds sweetness to relationship
And special aroma and spice to life
