A spy network existed in the state
may be, to detect and quell dissent.
but Ram used it to understand
people's woes and detect corruption.

King's personal spy, once
reported to him something bizarre:
a lady was being chastised
by her husband for adultery;

"Ram has accepted as his queen,
Sita, pregnant with Ravan's son.
why do you make all the fuss? "
her words shut him down.

It is blasphemy,
revolt against the king
any ruler would've
got her beheaded.

But Ram said, "It is just loose talk,
why do you bring it to me? "
"True, Your Highness. But people talk
and many tend to believe it.

"People say, they will not take
Ravan's son as the king of Ayodhya.
it is snow-balling into a revolt",
said the officer. Ram pondered.
